How to Write Personal Wedding Vows

Wedding Planning Tips For Dummy

Want to know how to write personal wedding vows? It is not as hard as it seems. Even for those who are not gifted at writing or poetry can have personal vows written that are meaningful and convey the message you want to give to your new spouse.

So how do you start? It is not that hard actually. If there is a poem or other inspirational piece you like, you can use that. If not, then there are many books and online sites available to help you.

Your clergy might be able to offer suggestions. Finally if you know a gifted writer, they may be able to write them for you. You can also dig deep inside yourself and try to put into words how you feel about your spouse to be.

Writing personal wedding vows is something that is the most difficult part of planning your wedding service. You know how much you love your spouse to be, however, putting those feelings into words is extremely difficult. Especially when reading them in front of guests is taken into account.

Some great places to get ideas are the psalms; also the Song of Songs or Solomon’s Song is amazing. You do not have to read the whole piece – it is quite long, but take pieces of it, those that express your feelings.

It is said by some to be the greatest love song ever. Another place to get ideas is online. An internet search of wedding vows will give you more hits that you can go through in a week.

Almost all of the wedding planning websites have great ideas for personal vows. This is a great way to see what you can find without tearing yourself apart.

Another place to look for ideas is a bookstore or online retailer. There are many books and kits to help you write your own vows. Try to keep what you write personal and meaningful.

If your betrothed reads a long beautiful poem and you come up with “Roses are red, violets are blue, I’m so glad I’m marrying you” there may be some trouble. So give it some thought and do some research.

This will give you the basis for what you want to say.

You need to consider what type of ceremony you are going to have when thinking about how to write personal wedding vows. Are you going to have a religious service?

Certain denominations may place restrictions on what you can say. Sometimes, personal wedding vows mean just changing the traditional vows somewhat.

Most women have issues with the word “obey” in the vows. In reality it is antiquated and archaic.

So in reality, personal wedding vows can be anything from slight modifications to the traditional vows or they can be beautiful handwritten, original poems or writing that truly express your innermost feelings.

Anything in between is okay as well. When deciding on how to write personal wedding vows, research what you want and give it a little time. The vows do not have to be completed early on.

The more time you take with them, the happier you will be with your selection.
