Wedding planning, management theory, what do they have in common? Actually they have a lot in common. You really cannot have one without the other.

In order to plan a wedding you need management skill, top notch management skill to be exact. Without these skills, the wedding plans will become disorganized and ineffectively run.

What is the management theory behind wedding planning? It is sound business management. The same skills used in project management and business management apply to wedding planning as well.

The skill set consists of writing a plan, setting a goal and putting the plan into action. For wedding planning the goal is a fabulous wedding day, the plan is a detailed plan including all vendors, guests, facilities, time and money management as well as people management.

Organization, effective handling of resources is a part of management theory. Wedding planning using these skills results in an awesome day for the happy couple.

If you are a wedding planner, you should already have these skills. If you are not a wedding planner, but plan to be these are skills you need to acquire.

This book goes into the theory of management as it applies to wedding and other event planning. It’s available at most major book retailers.

Organization is crucial if you are planning a wedding. With so many thing to keep track of, without excellent organizational skill, one will not be able to stay abreast of hat needs t o be done and when.

Lack of organization can result in deposits not being made in time, missing appointments for alterations, caterers, and other vendors. You may not get the wedding you hoped for if you are not organized.

Effective use of time and resources is a must when planning a wedding. There are only so many hours in a day. The modern bride is usually working full time and has many demands on her time and energy.

Planning a wedding is something she wants to be a part of but needs assistance in executing. The wedding planner is expected to manage the arrangements of vendors and facilities.

Wedding planning, management theory are both intertwined disciplines. The wedding planner that is a phenomenal manager will give the betrothed a wonderful day of memories.
